Corey Gibbs Fire Lawyers’ Amanda Riddle Appointed to Leadership in SCE Eaton Fire Lawsuits

April 8, 2025

Amanda Riddle: “We intend to hold SCE accountable so that we can favorably resolve all cases swiftly and help the Altadena community move forward from this tragedy.”

Corey Gibbs Fire Lawyers’ Amanda Riddle was recently appointed as liaison counsel on behalf of all individual plaintiffs in the Eaton Fire litigation. On March 17, 2025, Judge Laura Seigle issued the first case management order that included Amanda as one of three attorneys that will act as spokespersons for fire survivors and coordinators between all parties involved in the case.

The hearing focused on organizing the many consolidated lawsuits filed against SCE and included appointing attorneys to act as liaisons between the 100+ firms representing the individual plaintiffs and the Court. Amanda held similar leadership positions in previous cases and possesses an extensive familiarity with complex utility-based wildfire cases. As liaison counsel, Amanda and other court-appointed leadership will serve a key role in communicating with the Court on behalf of all individual plaintiffs’ counsel and managing the litigation against SCE.

Amanda Riddle: “It is essential that each and every survivor of the Eaton Fire have their voice represented in this litigation. That is our primary responsibility.”

Over 100 lawsuits have been filed against SCE, alleging that SCE was negligent in failing to properly inspect and maintain its infrastructure and manage its power transmission lines during a period of high fire danger. Plaintiffs allege that this failure ultimately caused the Eaton Fire to ignite in the hills of Eaton Canyon, near Altadena, CA.
