The Microsoft CrowdStrike IT Outage: Blue Screen of Death

Experts have described the CrowdStrike outage as the “largest IT outage in history” and “easily the worst… glitch of any security software provider ever.”

CrowdStrike has admitted that a “defect” in a software update that it sent out to its customers on Thursday, July 18 caused millions of computers using Microsoft Windows to crash. Users reported that their computers have been constantly rebooting and displaying the so-called “blue screen of death.”

Who Has Been Affected by the CrowdStrike Outage?

The computer systems of many companies who use CrowdStrike for their cybersecurity software have been shut down as a result of CrowdStrike’s mistake. The global IT outage has left businesses, customers, and governments across a wide variety of industries – including healthcare, airlines, banking, emergency services, and more – stranded and scrambling to get their systems back online.

Potential CrowdStrike Outage Class Action

In addition to CrowdStrike customers, this outage has crippled many businesses that aren’t CrowdStrike customers by crashing the essential payment and data systems that many business owners depend on. Many small businesses have lost revenue from turning away customers or shutting down systems due to the massive fallout from CrowdStrike’s mistake. Gibbs Law Group is investigating a potential class action case on behalf of business owners who have had their businesses disrupted because of CrowdStrike’s defective software.
