News broke that customers were automatically enrolled in cash sweep programs and unable to select options which might have offered them better returns and lower rates. Instead, Wells Fargo Advisors allegedly placed uninvested cash in banks paying as little as 0.05% interest to customers while Wells Fargo Advisors earned significant fees, over 5%, for itself.
