Roblox Child Grooming & Sexual Exploitation Lawsuit
Case Overview
About the Roblox Child Grooming & Sexual Exploitation Lawsuit:
Families nationwide are bringing lawsuits against Roblox—one of the world’s most popular gaming sites for children—for allegedly facilitating the sexual exploitation, grooming, and assault of Roblox’s child users. Our attorneys are helping lead these efforts to hold Roblox accountable through legal action.
These lawsuits allege that Roblox and the chat website Discord designed their platforms in a defectively dangerous way by failing to include reasonable safeguards such as age verification, identity verification, appropriate parental controls or adequate safety features; that these platforms’ unsafe designs allowed adults to prey on Roblox’s child users; and that Roblox concealed, misrepresented, and failed to warn child users and their families about the safety risks of its platform.
Families are seeking compensation for harms caused by these traumatic experiences, including:
Mental health issues including depression and anxiety
In February of 2026, Gibbs Mura partner Andre Mura was court-appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in the federal court grouping of dozens of Roblox child sexual exploitation and assault lawsuits. These cases were consolidated into a Multi-District Litigation in the Northern District of California in late 2025.
Additional Roblox child sexual abuse lawsuits are moving forward in Los Angeles Superior Court.
In 2026, Roblox and Discord will seek to have cases moved to arbitration and/or dismissed, which Plaintiffs will oppose.
About Us
Gibbs Mura’s Leadership Protecting Children & Families from Dangerous Technology Features:
Our case against Roblox is part of Gibbs Mura’s trailblazing work to hold technology companies accountable for the harm they cause.
Gibbs Mura partner Andre Mura has been appointed by a federal court to help lead the federal Roblox child sexual abuse lawsuits.
In addition, our Roblox Child Safety Attorneys, Andre Mura, Steve Lopez, and Michael Weinkowitz, also hold court-appointed leadership roles in other major cases seeking to hold technology companies accountable for child harm, including the Social Media Addiction Lawsuits. In that litigation, Gibbs Mura represents over 500 families whose children were harmed by social media companies TikTok, Meta, Snap, and YouTube.
In April of 2026, Roblox agreed to pay more than $33 million to settle claims by three state governments—Alabama, West Virginia, and Nevada— that it put children at risk of sexual exploitation, according to Reuters.
Roblox continues to face lawsuits from several other state governments over child safety, in addition to the dozens of lawsuits filed by families.
Roblox is not the only technology company facing scrutiny for its platform’s design—and impact on children. In March 2026, a jury found Meta and YouTube liable for a young woman’s mental health injuries and awarded her $6 million in the first social media addiction lawsuit to go to trial. TikTok and Snapchat reached settlements with the young woman before trial.
