Audi E-Tron Battery Recall Lawsuit Investigation

Audi recalls E-Tron models due to possible high voltage batteries short circuiting, risking fire

In September 2024, Audi recalled certain 2022-24 E-Tron GT and RS E-Tron GT electric vehicle models due to potential short circuiting of its high-voltage battery systems, which could increase the risk of a car fire. This recall follows other recalls in March 2024 and in December 2023. The recall in December 2023 involved approximately 26,866 E-Tron vehicles, models 2020-2022 E-Tron Sportback Quattro and 2019-2022 E-Tron Quattro vehicles. The recall in March 2024 involved approximately 29 E-Tron vehicles, models 2022-2023 RS E-Tron GTs.

Our firm is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers who purchased E-Tron models with a potentially dangerous battery defect.

How do I know if my vehicle is included in the Audi E-Tron battery recall?

Audi reported that they would send notices for the latest E-Tron high-voltage battery recall to more than 6,400 affected E-Tron GT and RS E-Tron GT owners on November 29, 2024. Initial notices to 2020-2022 E-Tron Sportback Quattro and 2019-2020 E-Tron Quattro vehicles reportedly went out in February 2024, to be followed by a second notice in the 3rd Quarter of 2024.

What is the Potential Audi E-Tron Class Action Lawsuit About: Defective Batteries Could Short Circuit and Catch Fire

The alleged defect causes the electric batteries in the Audi E-Tron models listed above to overheat or short circuit, increasing the risk of fire, according to communications involving the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Audi also previously recalled E-Tron models for similar battery issues and fire risks in March 2024. The latest recall instructs certain E-Tron owners to limit their vehicle’s charging to 80% capacity.

Class Action Lawsuit for Same Issue in Porsche Taycans

Our auto defect attorneys have already filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of over 27,000 electric Porsche Taycan owners whose vehicles have been recalled for the same alleged defect as the Audi E-Tron. We are seeking to hold both Porsche and Audi accountable on behalf of owners who spent thousands of dollars on these allegedly defective vehicles.

We are interested in speaking with Audi E-Tron owners across the United States about their experiences with their electric cars. We want to hear about your Audi E-Tron experience and what, if any, information Audi has provided you.

Recalled E-Tron Battery?

Impact of Battery Recall on Audi E-Tron Owners

Replacing an electric battery is estimated to cost approximately $50,000. Additionally, Audi may advise owners to only charge their vehicle batteries up to 80% of their capacity. This limitation reduces the range of miles typically available on a single charge.
